How can you help as a CASA Volunteer?

Are you looking for ways to get more involved with CASA of Los Angeles? Whether you have lots of time or little time to contribute, whether you want to work directly with a child in need or would rather help with social events, we have a volunteer opportunity that is the right fit for you.  CASA is the only volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens as officers of the court. In an overburdened social welfare system, abused and neglected children often slip through the cracks among hundreds of current cases. CASA  is different. Appointed by judges, CASA volunteers typically handle just one case at a time and stay on top of it until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. While others may come and go, CASA volunteers provide that one constant that children need in order to thrive.

To better serve the community, Casa utilizes volunteers in a wide variety of roles. Openings and training opportunities vary by program. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Phones. Answer phones at Casa to provide information, referrals, support and crisis intervention to a wide variety of callers.
  • Administrative Support. Assist Casa administrative staff in daily tasks.
  • Violence Prevention Educator. Present Violence and Prevention programs to children in Head Start and elementary schools.
  • Speakers Bureau Volunteer. Speak on behalf of Casa regarding abuse and violence issues to local civic organizations, government agencies, parent groups, school administrators and youth groups.
  • Fundraising volunteer. Become involved as a volunteer in Casa’s annual fundraising events.
  • Ambassador for Casa. Present Casa’s mission, vision, and goals to friends and associates, encouraging and arranging formal agency tours to increase public awareness of abuse and violence and Casa’s role in the community.
