Pregnant Post-partum Invervention Program (PPI)
The PPI Program provides intervention for pregnant and post-partum adult and adolescent women at risk for substance abuse. Risk factors include: domestic violence, mental health problems, teen pregnancy, and poverty. The program is designed to reduce the incidence of fetal and infant alcohol , tobacco, and drug (ATOD) to facilitate a healthy lifestyle for all participants. The Preparing Adolescents for Young Adulthood (PAYA) curriculum is implemented with participants in an effort to increase program success. Participants are provided with on-site, gender specific , community-based outreach, intervention, motivational counseling, case management, treatment referral and support.

Program Overview
1. Must reside in Hidalgo or Cameron Counties.
2. Be pregnant or have a child 18 months or younger.
3. Be at risk for substance abuse. Risk factors include: domestic violence, mental health problems, teen pregnancy, CPS involvement, substance abuse, or poverty.
4. May be referred for services by social service agencies, healthcare providers, or school.

Who We Are
 
   
The Creating Access & Resource Exchange (CARE) Project will work to compile specific information intended to increase access to resources available for pregnant- post partum women and infants in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy Counties. Information gathered is posted on the CARE Project website for community organizations and pregnant-post partum women (PPW) to access.
